Okonomiyaki - Japanese pancake

I love trying new cuisine and I must say that I really enjoy Japanese food. My first experience with Japanese food was in Hyderabad at the mall where they served an omelet and called it Teppanyaki. I was at the time quite disappointed in Japanese food.

After moving to Singapore I was exposed to more authentic Japanese food and I'm slowly getting sucked into how fresh and delicious the cuisine is. I've removed and shelved my mental blocks on raw fish! Our lovely Japanese colleagues insisted we got to an Okonomiyaki place for dinner. We had so much fun. Soju followed by a night-we-shall-never-speak-of.

Here is a quick capture of how we made our food:

Grease the pan. (its communal eating, so a large flat pan sits on the table)

Get your lovely fresh cabbage mixture and mix it up.

Place it on the pan and fry till cooked. Meanwhile fry sausages and veggies on the side to munch on while the pancake cooks. And chat to the lovely hosts who will tell you stories about their food and culture.

Add some Nori seasoning and you're set to gobble it up. Oishii!!!
